I’ve always been curious enough to try things properly, and patient enough to stay with them long enough to understand how they work.
I live in Ireland’s midlands with my partner, our child, one dog, and an improbable number of cats. Much of my attention these days is organised around a long-term personal project — one that involves place, systems, and the practical work of reshaping a life with care rather than haste.
Over time, that curiosity has taken me through very different worlds: the military, life at sea, academia, political research, policy spaces, and years working alongside NGOs and mission-driven organisations. Across those settings, I’ve tended to focus on governance, decision-making, and organisational work — helping systems function more honestly, and outcomes matter more than rhetoric.
I’m drawn to complex problems, unfamiliar environments, and the uncomfortable space where theory meets practice. I’ve learned that given enough time, attention, and context, most skills are learnable — and that excellence is usually less about talent than about showing up, paying attention, and caring enough to do the work well.
This site is where I think in long form about politics, technology, culture, and the quieter personal experiences that shape how we make sense of the world.
